16U Nationals Finish in Elite 8 of the
16U CABA World Series in Marietta, Georgia
Congratulations to the 16U Nationals who finished an outstanding season by
going 7-2 in the 16U CABA World Series in Marietta, GA, to finish in the
Elite 8 of the national title tournament. The powerful East Cobb Astros, who
produce many MLB-drafted ballplayers each year, won the national
championship by going 11-0 and winning the title for the 3rd straight year.
The 16U CABA World Series is the most prestigious national tournament in the
U.S. with a field of 48 top notch teams from California, New York, Florida,
Texas and other states.
The Royals, who had lost
only 5 games all season, reeled off an impressive 7 straight wins to start
the tournament (including a win over the East Cobb Brewers) with an
outstanding hitting attack and superb pitching. With the first 40 teams
eliminated, the Royals advanced to the championship round of the Elite 8,
but lost two games to be eliminated. The Royals were the only team from
Illinois to advance to the Elite 8 and only of two northern teams to make it
the Championship round. The 16U Nationals finished the season with a
record of 28-7-2
