Former collegiate
pitcher/outfielder with over 20 years coaching experience at both the professional and collegiate level.
Currently, Andy
is beginning his 10th season as an Associate Scout for the 2001
World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks.
Andy
has
assisted Division I teams with their
pitching programs and camps.
Most of Andy's players from the Royals have gone on to compete at the
highest level of collegiate play including Arizona State, Wake Forest and
the University of Illinois.

Ben Erickson

Coach
Erickson is a former scholarship collegiate pitcher and outfielder.
He was Judson College’s
(Judson University) first Chicagoland Collegiate All-Conference Player in 1999 and was also an
NAIA All-Region selection the same year. Ben has spent time both as a high
school coach as well as a volunteer assistant coach at the college level.
From 2005-2009,
Coach Erickson was the Director of Baseball Operations at Fox Valley
Sports Academy (Elgin, IL) and since 2005, he has also been the assistant varsity
coach at South Elgin High School. Coach Erickson has served on the Board of
Directors for the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame Foundation since 2009
and in 2010 Ben became an Associate Scout for the Baltimore Orioles.

Ryan Biner
15U Associate Coach
Ryan was a two-year starter at Prairie Ridge HS in Crystal Lake. He
twice made the Northwest Herald All-Area team, was named Fox Valley
All-Conference as well as Academic All-Conference.
He currently attends
Johns Hopkins University where he has twice lettered playing 1B and OF
for the Blue Jays. He was All-Conference in the Centennial League with
a .488 average this past season. Since 2004, Ryan has also been a
hitting instructor.

Mike Hlavacek
17U Associate Head Coach
Mike
started his career at Elgin Community College where he was selected
as an All-American pitcher (11-0 record) in 2005. Mike went on to play
for the Illinois State Redbirds in 2006-07 and led the team in saves
with 6 in 2006 and had 11 starts in 2007. Mike is a welcome addition
to the Royals coaching staff.

TJ Nall
16U National Associate Head Coach

Coach Nall
pitched in the Washington Nationals organization in 2007 & 2008,
playing most recently in the Pacific Coast League (PCL) with the Las
Vegas 51's and Southern League while with the Los Angeles Dodgers
system. TJ was a member of the 2002 South Atlantic League All-Star
team, posting a 0.63 ERA in the first half. Coach Nall also played in
the Arizona Fall League in 2003, spent 2004 in Jacksonville (FL) and
was also selected as an All-Star for the Southern League in 2004 and
2006.
The 2006
season was a career year for Coach Nall. He led the Southern League in
strikeouts (155) as well as won 8 consecutive decisions for the
Jacksonville Suns. He finished the year 10-7 and had a 2.82 ERA. Coach
Nall was the Southern League pitcher of the week three times in 2006;
he was also the Dodger organization pitcher of the month in June,
going 6-0 with a 1.10 ERA. Coach Nall tallied his first professional
homerun in '06.
TJ was an
area standout while at Schaumburg High School playing for the Saxons
the same year they captured the Illinois State Baseball Title (1997).
Nall was named to the Chicago Tribune All-State Team in 1999 as a
third basemen, and was drafted shortly thereafter in the 8th round by
Los Angeles as a pitcher.

Ken Nagler
16U American Head Coach
Coach
Nagler is a former collegiate pitcher from Winona State University in
Minnesota. Prior to his college playing experience, Ken was a
four-year player at Elk Grove High School. Coach Nagler’s playing
experience also included a stint pitching for the Winona Chiefs a
summer travel organization that has been in existence for over
50-years.
In 2007 Ken was the
pitching coach for Judson University. Ken has also worked closely with
several other local travel organizations throughout the year and has
worked in area with several successful area training camps.

Pat Meginniss

Pat Meginniss
started his career as a two year varsity award winner for Elgin High
School. He then became an Elmhurst College Blue Jay, where he was a
four year varsity award winner and three year starter with a career
batting average of .320, 53 runs scored, 15 doubles, 2 home runs, 25
walks, 38 RBI and a on-base percentage of .380. His career fielding
percentage was .975. He was awarded Most Improved Player in 2006,
Gold Glove in 2007, and Coach's Award for leadership and outstanding
play in 2008. He was also voted team captain in 2008. He has done
catchers/hitting instruction t various camps since 2004.

Zach Scipione
15U American Head Coach
Zach
was a 3-year varsity player at Conant HS where he had .360 career
average and was named to the MSL All-Conference Team in 2005 as well
as to the Daily Herald Cook County All Area team. He also starred at
Judson University through the 2009 season earning various honors
including All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Region. He finished his
career 3rd all-time at Judson for career hits, 2nd in career RBI and
3rd in doubles. Zach has coached at various baseball camps
since 2005 and and has been a hitting instructor since 2007.

Trent Golz
16U Central Head Coach

Trent
was a 2-year varsity starter and captain at Streamwood High School.
He was named to the 2004 Upstate Eight All-Conference team as well
as the Daily Herald and Courier News All-Area Teams. He was also a
4-year starter for the Judson University Eagles Baseball Team where
he played shortstop, 3rd base, and pitcher. He graduated
in 2009 and is currently 5th all-time at Judson for
career hits. He was twice nominated for the CCAC pitcher of the
week and was awarded the teams Dirt Dog award during his senior
year. |
Ralph Riske
14U Associate Head Coach

Coach Ralph Riske joins the Royals coaching family for the 2010
season and will work with our 14U team. Ralph is another
outstanding addition to our coaching staff. Coach
Riske is currently in his third year as assistant coach at Elgin
Community College which has gone to the NJCAA World Series 5 of
the last 6 years. Coach Riske works with the hitters at ECC and
his efforts were instrumental in the team batting .375, the
highest in ECC Spartan baseball history. Coach Riske has a true
passion for the game and is a spirited hard worker who brings
out the best in his players by passing on his knowledge of the
game.

Eric Mahler
13U Head Coach

Eric
Mahler will be one of our coaches at the 15U level for 2010 after
being our head coach of the 16U National team in 2009 and is a
outstanding addition to the Royals coaching family. Eric player high
school baseball at Schaumburg HS where he was a two year letter
winner. After high school Eric attended Gadsen State Community
College in Gadsen, AL where he earned deans list recognition every
semester. At Gadsen State CC he also batter .296 his sophomore year
with 44 runs scored and 24 RBI.....was also named team captain.
After graduating at Gadsen State CC Eric received a scholarship to
play baseball at Illinois Sate University where he had a career
batting average of .348 |
Justin Kees
15U National Head Coach

Coach Justin
Kees is currently the Associate Head Coach at Elgin Community
College where in 2007, he helped the Spartans to a fourth straight
trip to the NJCAA World Series. His pitching staff has consistently
been among the best in the region.
Coach Kees
played in the Arizona Diamondbacks' organization and posted a .625
winning percentage in back-to-back seasons with Lethbridge, a
Rookie-Class team where he went 5-3, and High Desert, a Class-A team
where he went 6-2. Coach Kees also played locally with the
Schaumburg Flyers. His career professional record, which spanned
over 4 seasons, was 20-13. In January 2002, Coach Kees was named
pitching coach of the Rockford RiverHawks, an independent team in
the Frontier League. Under Coach Kees, Rockford's pitching staff
ranked second in the league with a 3.88 ERA. Coach Kees spent the
2001 season as the varsity pitching coach at Barrington High School
where he helped the staff post a 23-10 record. He graduated from
Danville Area Community College where he earned All-Conference and
All-Region honors as an outfielder. He later enrolled at Southern
Illinois University.

Les Callas
15U National Coach
Coach Callas
is starting his 42nd season coaching high school baseball. He spent
31 years (1969 -1999) as head baseball coach at Prosser Vocational
HS Chicago and 2 years yrs (2000-2001) at Jones Academy HS,
starting the athletic program along with coaching the baseball team.
Has been an assistant baseball coach at Barrington HS since 2002,
helping the Broncos win 5 regional, 3 sectionals, 1 super sectional,
and a 3rd place finish in the 2005 state tournament. Les has a head
coaching career record of 588 -354 and was voted into the Illinois
Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1989.

Rob Serpico
12U Associate Head Coach
Robb was a two time all conference / all area award
winner at Schaumburg HS and Hampshire HS, being the team MVP award
winner senior year. Currently a senior at the University of Chicago
majoring in Economics, Rob is captain of the varsity baseball team at
U of C and has been the varsity starting shortstop since
freshman year; also used as a closing pitcher for the Maroons. He also
plays semi-pro summer league as 2nd baseman for the Addison Braves,
posting a .354 batting average and a .945 fielding percentage for the
Braves in the Chicago Suburban League. He was named to the 2009 CSBL
all college team. Rob's coaching experience includes volunteer coach
for Play for Life International (2007-2009), provided individual
hitting, fielding and pitching instruction for 10-12 year olds.

Mike Goltz
played his high school ball at Neenah High(Neenah, WI) were he was a
two year varsity award winner as well as an all-conference
pitcher. His path took him to Elmhurst College; he played three
seasons at Elmhurst where he was a varsity award winner and starter
throughout his career with a batting average of .323, 81 runs
scored, 25 doubles, 14 home runs, 52 walks, 79 RBI, .534 slugging
percentage, and a .415 on-base percentage. He was voted to the first
team all-conference(CCIW) selection in 2007. This is his second year
coaching with the Royals.
