Royals Coach Evaluation: Josh has been one of our most consistent pitchers
this summer. While he does not have an overpowering fastball, he
more than makes up for that with location and movement on all of his
pitches. Works in the 74-76mph range, but has plus movement on his
fastball (great two-seam run and sink away from righties) and maintains
arm speed on both his curveball and changeup. Varies speed with
his CB and generates sharp 12/6 movement and depth; is deceptive and at
times, sneaky fast when he works backwards with his off-speed pitches.
Pounds the strike zone and stays out of trouble by limiting base runners
and pitching to contact. Has one of the better pick moves to first
base that one will see in high school in our area; varies looks and
alternates leg lift to knee-to-knee quick move very well. Still
has room for physical maturity and development. He gets outs.
Josh has a great attitude, is very coachable and is well-liked by his
